Lineup: Jon Dalton (Guitar), John-paul Gard (organ), Paolo Adamo (drums).
SHOW INFO: Visiting USA based guitarist Jon Dalton and his international trio promise a really exciting evening of jazz and blues. Highly acclaimed in his own right, Jon cites his influences as Tal Farlow, Joe Pass, and Wes Montgomery. First time at Brecon Jazz Club and a unique unmissable event and lineup.
Jon built a strong early following in the UK but decided to expand his horizons with a move to the US in the late 1990s. Now based in Los Angeles his first US CD release: “The Gift” from 2003 met with critical and commercial success. The title track reached Number 1 on New York’s CIM jazz chart. Jon’s first collaboration with UK based organist John-Paul Gard resulted in another US release, Jon Dalton Trio’s “Warm Ghosts in a Cold World” from 2009. Like The Gift, “Warm Ghosts” attracted critical acclaim and much exposure on US radio and in print magazines.
John-paul (Hammond Organ) is well known on the British jazz circuit, and has played live with such stellar guitarists as Andreas Oberg and Alex Hutchings. His major influences are Jimmy Smith and Jack McDuff, as well as modern ‘burners’ such as Joey DeFrancesco. Always a delight to hear.
The trio is completed by Paolo Adamo (Italy), now a Bristol-based jazz drummer. He has performed with some of the UK’s top players, such as Andy Sheppard, Jake McMurchie, John Law, John-Paul Gard, Jonny Henderson, Ben Waghorn, Andy Hague, Craig Crofton, Kevin Figes, Anders Olinder, James Gardiner Bateman, and George Cooper.
